Mines and Energy Ministry Boosts Decentralization Efforts, Conducts Training For Staff

The Ministry of Mines and Energy continues to intensify efforts geared towards improving its decentralization activities.

As part of said drive, the ministry embarked upon a two-day capacity building to brighten the minds of the geologists’ staff.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the minister of Mines and Energy, Wilmot Paye, challenged county officers to take assignments soon to be dutiful and commit themselves to serving their country with diligence.

Minister Paye admonished mining officers to stand up to challenging circumstances they may encounter whilst discharging their duties.

He urged all staff of the ministry to stand up to radically transform the mining and energy sectors.

This way, those the minister termed as “bad elements” will stand alone and be exposed.

The convening of the two-day orientation deployment of the mines and energy representatives in the various counties brings to actualization Minister Wilmot Paye’s plan to decentralize the ministry.

Among other things, the flagship program of the Senior Management Team of the Ministry of Mines and Energy is intended to make services of the ministry available and accessible at the county level to ease the burden associated with long travels from distant locations to reach the Monrovia head office by those interested in mining activities as well as energy services.

The training, which focused on policy and regulatory frameworks of both mining and energy sectors, has been facilitated by the senior staff of the ministry, including deputy and assistant ministers and directors from the departments of operations (mines), energy, and administration.
