Ombudsman Recommends Dismissal of 26 Public Officials for Violating Code of Conduct

The Office of the Ombudsman has recommended to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to dismiss at least 26 government officials for alleged violation of the 2014 Code of Conduct.

According to a report released Tuesday, the officials are accused of breaching Sections 5.1 (a), (b), (c), and 5.8 of the 2014 Code of Conduct Law, which governs the ethical standards and political activities of public servants.

These sections particularly address issues of political participation, abuse of office, and conflict of interest, especially as it relates to public officials engaging in electoral or partisan activities while holding appointed positions.

The report, which is now under review by the Executive Mansion, names a broad list of high-ranking officials across various ministries, agencies, and public corporations.

Those recommended for immediate dismissal include:

Cooper Kruah, Minister of Labor

Lucia Yallah, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

Emmanuel Zorh, Ministry of Labor

Luther Tarpeh, National Port Authority (NPA) Board Member

Amos Tweh, Managing Director, Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC)

Cornelia Wonkerleh Kruah, Deputy Minister of State

Whroway Bryant, Montserrado County Superintendent

Emmanuel Kunneh Wreh Farr, National Fire Service

Sheikh Kouyateh, Ministry of State

Ben Fofana, Ministry of State

Patience Randall, Liberia Business Registry

Edmund Forh, National Transit Authority (NTA)

Togar Melvin Cephas, National Transit Authority (NTA)

Lucia Tarpeh, Development Superintendent, Montserrado

Robert Bestman, Mayor, Paynesville City
